McKelvie Library News Blog

Please make sure that your child(ren) have at least one "Good Fit" book and another in the "pipeline" for the five days off from school beginning next Wednesday. This is a perfect opportunity to enjoy some pleasure reading. Be sure to find some time to relax and read, McKelvie! If you have a car ride or some fireside downtime, please remember that Sora is an amazing option if you and your family would like to listen to an audiobook or read an Ebook. With the Sora app downloaded, you will never be without a great book. Personally, I have found Sora to be a great source of entertainment during car rides as it keeps backseat occupants engaged and entertained (minimal squabbling and less attention seeking from the driver)! Sora is an amazing resource that I encourage all to explore and utilize.  This is an additional reminder that there is an app for Destiny Discover so that the students can listen to audiobooks we have in our Destiny catalog. Happy weekend, McKelvie. I just wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank our amazing Bedford PTG for hosting a fall Scholastic Book Fair. There were so many students who enjoyed shopping for titles that they get to keep on their shelves at home and share with family members. Book fairs are an amazing way to encourage and connect our students with books and encourage literacy. The selections were aplenty and I too enjoyed shopping for our school library! A BIG thank you to the PTG who donated several new titles to our school library that connect directly with curriculum content. They were also able to provide us with popular pleasure reading books that are sure to fly off of our shelves. These will be catalogued and added to our collection next week. 📚 Enjoy your weekend. ~Mrs. Cote

We will also be able to enjoy an extra hour of sleep (or reading) this weekend. 😊 Please take a look at our EBSCO subscription database, NoveList K-8 Plus, as a reader's advisory tool. This can be found on the “Resources” tab under “Digital Resources” I am encouraging the students to always have a "Good Fit" book in their hands and another one in the "pipeline." Please check in with your child about the "Good Fit" book they are reading and the other one they are ready to dive into! Don't forget about Sora (our eBook and audiobook platform) and the amazing Bedford Public Library as well! Our school community is so fortunate to have many print and online resources to make literacy an important part of our lives. Congratulations to our 1st Search Slip winner of the year! 5th grader, Darius Brown, along with MANY others, entered our monthly library raffle by filling out...
