Did you know that this past week was an exciting week for many current authors, illustrators, and publishers? The American Library Association (ALA) announced on Monday, Jan. 25th the award winners, such as the John Newbery Medal winner and the Randolph Caldecott Medal winner, for 2021. Other award winners were also announced as well. Click HERE  to be redirected to see the complete list of ALA award winners and honor books. Our school library has many of these children's titles in our collection! This is a perfect weekend to cuddle up with a great book. ~ Mrs. Cote 📚

Happy weekend, McKelvie. With the second quarter having ended, this is a great time to remind your child to check their library account to make sure that it is up-to-date, and your child does not have any overdue books. As a friendly reminder, we do not ever assess overdue fines. I will only bill for lost or damaged books after having a conversation with your child. On most occasions, children know where their books are; they just need to be reminded to put the book in their backpack/bag to bring it to the library. I completely understand that schedules are ever-changing during this unique time, so if a book is overdue, I just ask that it gets returned the next day your child is in-school learning. Auto-generated overdue emails are sent weekly to your child's school email account if there is an overdue title(s) that need to be returned. Thank you for all of your support. Classes continue to come to the library for citation practice, note-taking, and book club browsing and selection...

I hope this post finds you all happy and healthy! This week was very busy in the library! The Cleghorn/Hayward POD came to work on the basics of note taking and began doing so with the Westward Expansion titles we have in the library. The Brown/Correia POD learned how to format an MLA 8 citation document and then began taking notes on subtopics within the Westward Expansion time period. The Allen/Waldman/Mail POD came to the library to showcase their Adobe Spark book talks! As a result of these book talks, several titles were checked out because their peers "sold" the books to others in the class. I was also able to add some titles that were highlighted to a future book order! I strive to have the books that kids want to read in our library! Click HERE to see an Adobe Spark image of most (some have already been checked out) of 29  new math and science books that were purchased last week.  These purchases were made possible with a $500.00 donation from Worthen's Mobil at ...

Happy 2021, McKelvie! 🎉 I hope this post finds all of our McKelvie community healthy and happy!  Over break our school library was graciously awarded a $500.00 donation for new math and science books. This generous gift is from Worthen's Mobil at 470 Route 101 in town.  With these funds 29 new math and science related print books were purchased. These will be arriving next week and will be added to our school library catalog as time allows. Thank you Worthen's Mobil! We strive to keep our resources up-to-date for our patrons. Be sure to check the ribbon in Destiny Discover of our "Recently Added Books" as these new titles will appear here by the end of next week! Over the holiday break, I came into school to check in all of the books from our fake patron, Quaran Teenie. She is the patron we created so that when library books are returned, they are checked out to "her," boxed, and quarantined for at least 72+ hours before fulfilling any holds placed on the t...
